Dear Center Families,
In the spirit of teaching our students about the importance of Community Service, we will continue with our yearlong effort to feed those in need of assistance.
Center School Helping Hands is a school –wide effort to provide our students an opportunity to work as grade level teams to make a difference by making sandwiches to help feed the hungry.
Here’s how it will work:
Each grade level will be assigned a month to meet one morning in the cafeteria at 7:50 AM to make sandwiches with their grade level team. The students will go directly to their classrooms at 8:30. In order to be able to give each grade a second opportunity to make sandwiches, we have combined grades for the remainder of the school year.
Mark your calendars with the following Wednesdays:
March 12th kindergarten and 5th grade
April 9th 4th and 1st grades
May 21st 3rd and kindergarten
June 11th 2nd grade & open (feel free to come and make sandwiches)
2. WHAT TO BRING:
Each family may voluntarily send in with your child sandwich meat, cheese, and bread to make sandwiches on their designated day. We suggest 1lb. meat; ½ lb. cheese; two loaves of bread, although any donated amount is appreciated. The number of sandwiches delivered each month will depend on donations.
Feel free to send in a box or two of sandwich baggies. The baggies we had donated have been used…the students have made over 2,500 sandwiches!
3. WHO MAY COME:
Siblings are more than welcome to make sandwiches too. The more helping hands the better!!
4. SANDWICH DONATIONS:
Parent Mrs. Amy Nedwed is coordinating this effort. She and I will be present with the students while they make the sandwiches; and Mrs. Nedwed will deliver ½ of the total amount of sandwiches to Loaves and Fishes Kitchen in Springfield. Beginning in March, the other ½ of total sandwiches will be donated to the Easthampton Community Center. Kudos to Amy for spearheading the effort!!
Thank-you for your generous spirit of giving! A reminder notice will be sent each month.
