Weather Delay Schedules


Please have this serve as notice as we enter that time of year where inclement weather can impact school. Announcements will be made between 6:00 and 7:00 A.M. A list of television/radio stations can be found in the Student Handbook on page 58. In addition, parents/guardians who submitted information to the Public School District will receive an automated message. If school is cancelled, students should return to school prepared for the scheduled blocks of the day that was cancelled. Class rotations for one-hour and two-hour delays can be found in the Student Handbook on page 58. 

When school is cancelled all school-sponsored events are also cancelled. Please arrange in advance with your child in the event school is dismissed early.


  • When the city of Springfield cancels school due to inclement weather but LPS schools remain open, METCO students will not be expected to attend school due to unplowed streets and no bussing. Parents may choose to drive their child to school but the pick-up is their responsibility.
  • Parents of METCO students should follow the LPS Delay Schedule. If there is a 1-Hour delay the bus pick-up will be one hour later (7:05 changes to 8:05).
  • If there is a 2-hour delay the bus pick-up will be two hours later (7:05 changes to 9:05).
  • Parents are encouraged to check phones and emails for message from Supt. Marty O'Shea and listen to the local radio or TV stations.
