We hope you will consider signing up for one of our after school offerings this spring.  Most courses meet once a week for five weeks and are a fantastic value!  These classes are offered at our schools, and convenient online registration is available at www.longmeadow.k12.ma.us/enrichment

Elementary Enrichment

Lisa and Mary‘s Kids Yoga-After School Yoga Fun!: Grades K-5
Please join us for an afternoon yoga class full of playful and imaginative exploration through yoga poses, games and activities, music, and a craft! Each class includes pranayama (breath), movement, relaxation, and meditation.  Yoga is a great way to help kids reduce stress, increase listening skills, and enhance focus and body awareness. In addition, students will gain assistance with balance and coordination and improve breathing and body alignment.  Please bring your own yoga mat.  An $10 materials fee is required, payable to the instructor on the first day of the course.  Instructor: Lisa Katz and Mary Daboul

Bonkers for Botany: Grades K-2
Become bonkers for botany and study plants and nature!  Enjoy digging in the dirt, planting seeds, studying worms and how the help the growing process, dissecting plants, and learning all about the science of growing during this hands-on, fun-filled, botany enrichment course.

We will explore botany each week through a hands-on activity covering the following topics:

Growing:  Planting seeds and watching them grow

Plant parts and Plant Life Cycle: Dissecting plants and exploring the parts

Compost and worms: Making compost and studying live worms and how they help the compost process

Water cycle: Create and observe terrariums

Bugs and botany: Pollination craft creating our own paper hybrids

Please inform the instructor of any plant and food allergies so plans/materials may be adjusted if needed.  A $5 materials fee is required, payable to the instructor on the first day of the course.  Instructor: Linda Nichols

Middle School Enrichment

MCAS Bootcamp: Grades 6-8
This class is offered to students at both middle schools who would like to experience extra practice in maintaining and improving their math performance.  This course will include a variety of pre-algebra activities designed to prepare students for the new MCAS.  Students will explore and discover new ways to answer MCAS problems and become familiar with the different types of test questions.
